I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven on Earth.

Youth News!

Welcome to Fall, everyone!!

This last month was busy! Good thing summer is almost over so we can all go back to school and catch up on our sleep!!

On August 6th, the Youth performed the skit, "Caveheart," for the Wednesday Night Praise Service. It went exceptionally well, with Mitch Lambdin playing the lead, Randi Martin as the wandering minstrel, and Shane Reinhard as the Lord's Messenger. No one ever suspected that Scottish accents could be done so poorly!! The skit was followed up by a pizza party!

On August 13th, the Youth were taken to Mulligans for Miniature Golf, by Patty Lambdin and Tracy Reinhard.

August 20th was our monthly planning meeting and Bible Lesson.

And on August 27th, we will be watching a video during Youth Time, as that will be the last Wednesday for a while that the Sanctuary will be available after services.

Another highlight of the month was hearing all about the trip that Melissa Lambdin, Whitney Alvord, Nicole Murphy, and Patty Lambdin all took to Youth 2003 in Knoxville, Tennessee. We even got to see pictures!! The one of Whitney with her 16 pound bundle of joy was especially thrilling. Rumor has it that she named him "Brunswick."

The other big news is that the Youth group has chosen to sponsor a young man through an organization called Compassion International. His name is John Peter, and he is from Ecuador. The Youth have committed to raising the $28 per month that is needed to provide some basic necessities, and will be raising money through various means to continue this project. If anyone is interested in making a donation to this fund, please see any Youth member or Patty Lambdin.

UMW

"Ancient Truth and New Beginnings"

All women are invited to come and celebrate the Reorganization of the Mountain Vista United Methodist Women. The service and celebration led by UMW District officers will held on Sunday, September 29th * 7 pm and will be an opportunity to further our understanding of the UMW Purpose:

"The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation the global ministries of the church."

We will have an opportunity to share in the vision and mission of the Mountain Vista UMW as we elect and install our new officers.  We will share in community with one another and reflect on the opportunities presented to us for the upcoming year as co-creators and risk-takers in the name of Christ.

Are you a Jobie-2-Bee?

Girls- do you sometimes think you are spending just a little too much time watching TV? Is your mom constantly telling you to clean up your room? Are you thinking that you would like to work with organizations like the Utah
Food Bank, Shriner’s and Primary Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House or Race for the Cure for Breast Cancer?

Parents- are you looking for something that your daughter can be involved with that promotes teamwork, leadership, respect and self-confidence? Would you like your daughter to be so busy that her room won’t have time to get
dirty?

If so, then you might want to think about what Job’s Daughters (aka Jobies) has to offer. Jobies are girls between the ages of 11 and 20. They are girls who like having fun, eating, doing community service, eating and learning a bit about themselves. Jobies will also get you out of the house, and away from your Mom’s room cleaning eye!

Jobies isn’t a club. It’s an organization, like a sorority, associated with the Masons. There are regular meetings, elected officers and tons of activities like cosmic bowling, sleepovers, softball and ice cream parties. Along the way, you might even learn a few useful things, like communication, leadership and teamwork.

So, if you want to start having the time of your life, building friendships that will last forever, call us! Please feel free to contact Kim Thompson, Bethel Guardian (943-3469), Bethel #1 for more information!
